About Hankinson
I am passionate about helping people maximize their overall experience playing music. I regularly make YouTube tutorial videos for students and send them new songs/material via email/texts along with audio files of how the examples sound. I also offer free music theory lessons to serious students once per month. I've been a full-time, professional teacher for 22 years. I've taught over 40,000 private lessons to students of all ages, abilities, interests and backgrounds.
I love the challenge of figuring out the best ways to help students make progress. As a general rule, students need to make progress to remain motivated and feel good about their playing and because I'm very analytical and determined, I have had good results with that goal.

With new students, I begin by asking them what their interests, goals and experience are then work on learning technique fundamentals, if the student is already solid there, we'll work on a variety of techniques, theory, scales, modes, chords, keys, improvisation/and areas where improvement is needed.
