About Andrew
I like to pattern my lessons on what the student wants to learn...if they want to learn theory I can teach that but it is not necessary if you want to learn the basics of guitar accompaniment. Most students quit because they don't learn to play songs and techniques that interest them...I try to provide that for my students. I have been playing and teaching for over 30 years and studied Music Education at the University of Arizona...so I am very familiar with the Tucson community.
I love to play music and being able to help others be able to have that much fun as well is the best job I would ever want to have. Seeing a students face light up with excitement when they play a song they love to listen to for the first time is a great feeling!
I was studying Guitar Performance at the University of Arizona and started tutoring beginning students and found that I enjoyed teaching so I changed my major from performance to Music Education and have had students ever since...
Over 35 years of playing and 30 years of teaching with Music Education degree work at the University of Arizona and teaching at local stores including Guitar Center Studios

First determine what level player they are already, and then I ask what their goals are for their playing in the short term and long term. Then I get a feel for the styles and songs they want to learn and create a lesson plan unique to their goals and technical ability.
The youngest i have worked with was 4 years old, and i have worked with students all the way up to 89 years old...so i am very flexible with my lessons to accomodate all skill levels and abilities/challenges

A Major Music Tucson made learning fun and easy. The lessons were for my son and he looked forward to going each weekend. The teaching style was geared towards a younger first time student. Lessons were easy to follow and homework was given in detailed instructions. We took lessons for nearly 3 years. As my son progressed in his playing abilities, his confidence level rose as well. Soon he not only was playing the electric guitar, but also ventured out into an acoustic as well.

Details
I charge 25 dollars a half hour and 40 dollars for an hour lesson, I usually give a 10 to 15 percent discount if you pay for lessons in advance/ monthly and I charge a 5 dollar fee if I do a mobile lesson and travel to your home.
