1: I first want to get to know the student I am going to tutor. When it comes to working with a student it’s all about knowing each student's strengths and weaknesses.
2: I will work to understand where the student could use improvement and what exercises would be most beneficial. This could be in more specific areas of a subject or much broader areas in the learning process.
3: I like to make a plan with each student. I believe organization is key to success.
4: I want every student to have fun! Learning should be fun!
I have worked with students ranging from the age of 5 all the way to 17!
I had a tutor when I was in high school and middle school. I got along with the tutor more than anything else. She motivated me to accomplish my work, but she didn't do the work for me. Find someone you think you'll be able to connect with.
During quarantine I have been reading many books and surfing too. It has given me time to step back and relax from the busy lives we all live!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should make write down what they believe would help them succeed most in school. Writing down thoughts or anything like that is so important. It allows you to see what you're thinking. This can really help when making big decisions, or in this case students talking about what they need.
