About Kent
In my work, I focus on teaching concepts and understanding the fundamental reasons for why a concept exists rather than memorizing facts.
I have taught social sciences for 3 years, since being in college.
Currently, I am doing a dual degree major in Business Administration and Philosophy, Politics, Economics.
AP World History score: 5
AP Microeconomics score: 5
AP Macroeconomics score: 5
AP US Government & Politics score: 5
Intermediate Microeconomics (ECON 401) grade: A+
Comparative Politics (POLSCI 140) grade: A
I started teaching in college after one night a friend of mine told me that I was really good at explaining concepts. He appreciated that I focus on connecting concepts to things a student would understand and using analogies to best help teach and learn the subject material.
Currently, I am a pursuing a dual degree in Business Administration & Philosophy, Politics, Economics at the University of Michigan. Therefore, I have taken the introductory and intermediate level classes at this point in the majors that I am studying. I have also taken 12 AP exams spanning from World History to AP Calculus BC, 8 of which were 5s, 2 which were 4s, and 2 which were 3s.

First, I want to understand the goals, timeframe, and expectations of the student so that way we are all on the same page.
Next, I focus on understanding how the student learns, such visual learner or audio learner, better at understanding concepts or knowing facts, etc. so that the lesson can be tailored to the student.
Afterwards, the emphasis becomes knowing the specific aspects of the subject matter so that I can best help the student.
I have worked with middle school students, high school students, and college students.
