About Ana
Hello, I am Mrs. Devenish!
I have been an elementary school teacher for 12 years. I trained in England and taught in nearly every grade during the eight years I worked there. I taught 3rd grade for four years in North Carolina and am a fully qualified WCPSS teacher. I specialize in helping children 'catch up' with reading, writing, and math.
I consider myself an 'old-school' teacher. As such, I believe all children benefit from learning mental math strategies and multiplication tables, as well as using grammar, spelling, and punctuation correctly.
Over the years, I have been described by my students as 'funny,' thoughtful but fair, and very energetic. I have built good relationships with the families I have worked with and have enjoyed being recognized/approached by past students on the street. Taking a moment to relish their successes and growth is always a joy! Admittedly, some look so grown up that it is hard to recognize them at first!
I have always loved 'my' children and being part of their lives. I would welcome the opportunity to work with your family. Thank you for considering me for this opportunity!"
