About John
I have 26 years of international teaching experience, having taught in International Schools in the Russian Federation and China. During my time abroad, I have taught both Advanced Placement (AP World History, AP European History, AP Human Geography) and International Baccalaureate (IB Philosophy and IB Film). Teaching in both systems has also granted me a deep familiarity with academic writing. I have a great deal of experience with academic writing in the forms of Extended Essays, persuasive writing, and creative writing.
I have extensive experience teaching students with many different levels of English in integrated classrooms, from beginners to advanced students. As a bilingual speaker of Russian, I understand the challenges of language acquisition and empathize deeply with those going through the process.
Over my 26-year career, I have not only guided numerous students to success in their AP and IB Exams but have, I hope, helped create a sense of ownership in their learning by fostering their enthusiasm and making connections between their work and their interests. I am eager to help students in their learning process and eager to learn from them in turn.
