About Denise
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, elementary-aged students have had difficulty catching up to their grade level Reading, Writing, and Math standards. In a class size of 20+ students, it can be difficult for a teacher to meet the needs of every child. Now, more than ever, individualized instruction is needed in order to close the educational gap.
My name is Denise. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary and Special Education as well as a Master's Degree in Reading. I hold a New Jersey K-6, Special Education, and P-3 teaching license as well as a Reading Specialist Certification. I have been teaching for four years now - Kindergarten, First, and Fifth Grade General Education as well as First and Third Grade Special Education. My passion is teaching students how to read and watching their light-bulbs go off in their heads once they have understood a certain concept.
Being able to work with your student on an individualized level will allow me to establish a relationship, identify their specific needs, and target them using data-driven instruction as well as their specific IEP. Prior to academics, I will get to know your student as a person in order to utilize their interests throughout our tutoring sessions. I will have weekly check-in's with them as well as their grown-ups. Message me to chat - let's set your student up for educational success!
