About Lisa
Hi! I'm Lisa, and I have been in the classroom for over 17 years as an English teacher to grades 7-12, and I have also tutored online to many different age groups. I am a certified teacher in English, ESL, Gifted and Talented, Special Education, and have worked with students at all skill levels. I believe that confidence is essential to student growth, and I strive to encourage my students to believe that what they say matters through conversation about literature and in their writing. Like learning a musical instrument or a sport, reading is a skill that needs to be practiced in order to get better and feel confident.
On a personal note, I have two children. I also love animals and have one dog, four cats, and a guinea pig. Do not be surprised if a cat makes a surprise appearance during class! Finally, I love to travel and have visited places all over the world.
