About Jacob
As a Chemistry PhD student, I have a strong background in chemistry and science. I can help with General Chemistry through all the upper level courses as well. I graduated with my undergraduate in Chemistry at UW-Stevens Point and am pursuing a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry at ISU. Whatever chemistry or lower level math and physics needs you have, I'd be happy to help!
I love chemistry! (I wouldn't be in school for 11 years in chemistry if I didn't) I have some tutoring experience as I TA for general chemistry recitation and lab, as well as offer an hour of general chemistry tutoring for the university. Working out problems, especially in a collaborative setting, is fun for me and seeing students grow in knowledge base and problem solving skills is a satisfying reward in itself!
I started teaching when I accepted my teaching assistantship from ISU and will continue tutoring for the years to come.
I am currently studying for my PhD in inorganic chemistry at ISU and graduated with my bachelor's in chemistry at UW-Stevens Point. I was also selected for a highly competitive summer research program at USM for photochemical research. I tutor a general chemistry lab and recitations totaling around 100 students as well as tutor general chemistry questions for all chemistry students.

For new students, I contact them after their interest to discuss rates and a tutoring plan aimed at the success of the student. Depending on what subjects and intensity the plan entails, my rates vary from $15 to $75 an hour like most high level tutors. If you have an offer, please make it in your first contact!
At ISU, I've worked with plenty of general chemistry students of varying knowledge levels so I can meet any student where they are.
Getting a 1 on 1 tutor is a rare opportunity I highly recommend taking advantage. Most courses in general chemistry are taught in giant lecture halls so you can really learn the material with me.

I could not have asked for a better tutor!! Jacob helped my child with her middle school science and she always looked forward to their sessions. It's been a loooooong time since I've had to know science so having Jake as her tutor was a Godsend!
Jake helped my college kid with chemistry mechanisms because she struggled with them in lectures (350 student hall). Now she's finally confident and excelling! Would recommend :)
Jake is super nice to work with and very knowledgeable! I was having trouble with my upper-level Chemistry and he helped me work through it without just giving me the answers.
