About Kyle
I believe that I have a unique combination of subject knowledge, teaching ability, and passion for teaching and tutoring. I have taken many classes in the subjects I teach, and I have taught and tutored students in them many times, which has made me more and more knowledgeable about the subjects I teach every time I teach them. I am constantly trying to improve my teaching ability - I listen to and use student feedback, and as a college student, I am taking many education classes to learn to be a better teacher. Finally, I genuinely enjoy teaching and tutoring, and I try to reflect this passion in the way that I teach other students.
Some of my most memorable experiences learning come from the moments where I finally understand a concept, after hours and hours of learning and studying. That feeling of satisfaction when I feel that I have accomplished something is what motivates me to continue learning and pursuing higher education. I want to help other students in their learning process and to guide them towards those blissful moments of understanding and comprehension. For these reasons, I plan to pursue a career in teaching after graduation.
One of my first experiences teaching was as a teaching assistant in a middle school math classroom the summer before starting high school. Since then, I have been a private tutor.
I am a college student at UC Berkeley, majoring in mathematics with a teaching concentration. I am also minoring in science and math education, which contains multiple classes with field placements, where I teach in local middle and high school classrooms. Additionally, I am a member of Berkeley Engineers and Mentors (BEAM), a student organization that provides extracurricular science activities for underserved schools in the East Bay.

If a student needs help preparing for a test or final, I ask them what topics they need the most practice in and primarily work on those. If they simply want help reinforcing their knowledge of the material in a course, then I will emphasize each topic equally. I tend to default to doing exactly what the student feels is best for them.
I have worked with students between 4th and 12th grade, in all subjects including math, biology, chemistry, physics, history, and computer science, up to the AP level. I have most primarily worked with high school students in math and computer science.
I would advise students to never give up on what they are trying to learn, no matter how frustrating the material is. Math and computer science can be difficult subjects, no matter how much prior knowledge or experience that students have in the field. Therefore, it is important to understand that setbacks and challenges are necessary for improvement and mastery of material.
