About Sierra
I currently tutor other college students at my university in algebra, precalculus, and quantitative reasoning. Every day brings many new students, so I am well trained to adjust on the spot to individual needs and levels of knowledge.

The most important thing is to ask each student what they already know when dissecting a homework question. Very often, they know a lot more than they realize and just need a little push to put the pieces together.
So far, I have only worked with college freshman. Most, if not all, of college students who have to take algebra and precalculus in college hate math. I have worked with students who were about to cry because of a difficult problem (we've all been there!) and others who would hardly speak to me out of anger towards the difficult problem. When that happens, I know it is time to slow things down and walk through the work slower.
Don't get hard on yourself if one person's teaching style doesn't get through to you. Everyone learns in different ways and being unable to grasp a concept as fast as others does not mean you are less smart. The smartest people are those that keep trying their best and ASK FOR HELP when they need it! I promise.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
It is most helpful to come in with a specific question, although sometimes a simple "I just don't get this" is fine, because it means you are taking initiative to seek out help with your learning!
