About Charlie
I'm a current college student at Franklin & Marshall College and enjoy working with students to help them succeed in the classroom! As a current student I know the learning process very well and can connect with my tutoring students because of this. I was named to the Honors List last fall and currently have a 4.0 GPA. I am on track to major in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology on a Pre-Med track. I enjoy working with students on math, biology, and chemistry. I can't wait to get started and I look forward to working with you!
I got started tutoring by just wanting to help the people close to me succeed in high school. However, I found that it was beneficial to them as they got my advice and teaching... but also to me as I got a new perspective on how to think about solving problems. Students often give me ways to think about things that I may not otherwise have thought about.
I have taken mathematics up to Calculus 2 in both high school and college. I am very passionate about math and science and am ultimately going to use them in my everyday life. I have worked one on one with friends and family since freshman year of high school to help them succeed... something I really enjoy.

I find the process is most successful when I can review the material before the meeting with the student. I like to look over the problems and develop ways in which I can give tips to the student in the most time-efficient manner. During the actual session I find it most effective to go over problems step by step and come to a solution and then let the student do one step by step to come to a solution. Finally, I have the student do the problem themselves. I find that this gradual shift into independently doing the problem minimizes frustration and anxiety around doing a whole problem by one's self.
I have mostly worked with students under the age of 18 and have experience working with students that are diagnosed with ADHD.
Look to find someone who is passionate about the work they are doing. If this is in math... look for someone who strives to solve problems and feels rewarded when they do so! Without passion for the work, the connection between you and your tutor is limited.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Am I doing this so I don't have to do as much work or am I doing this to accelerate my learning process? To minimize the amount of money you spend you should aim to learn (through tutoring) the best ways of approaching problem solving. With this you are able to connect what you learn to any topic rather than have to be tutored forever!
