About Caitlin
Hello! I am a senior at School for the Talented and Gifted, one of the most rigorous schools in Dallas, and will be majoring in computer science at Amherst College next fall. I am very comfortable with subjects in both STEM and the humanities, and have consistently received high AP scores in both categories, which include World and European History, English Language, Computer Science, Statistics, Calculus AB, and Physics I. I have lots of experience in tutoring my fellow classmates and in teaching young elementary students. I am especially well-versed in math as a current BC Calculus student. I am also available for college counseling or college test prep for students in high school. I received high scores on both my SAT and ACT, can edit and review college essays, and know all the ins-and-outs of the college process as someone who has just gone through it. I personally know how important it is to get an early start!
I am a National Merit Semifinalist, and have a 1560 SAT (790 Math, 770 ERW) and 35 ACT. I am also a National AP Scholar.
I enjoy seeing a student's eyes light up when they figure out a concept! That is what makes tutoring most rewarding. I enjoy working with both younger kids and with students near my age to help them reach a point where they are confident in their learning.
I often help my peers or underclassmen at my school with difficult homework problems or essay revision, either through informal or structured school tutoring sessions. I also volunteer teach regularly with younger elementary students at N.W. Harllee Elementary.

I think I would first talk to the parent and to the student to understand from both perspectives what are the most daunting issues, and then would direct the work towards those. I also think it's important to build a friendship with a new student so that I can better relate to them and communicate about whatever we're working on.
