About Matthew
As a current student, I am well versed in the art of 'not-understanding-a-topic'. I know the feeling of not grasping a topic that seems so simple to anyone else but me. Finding help was never easy because everyone's schedules differed so much, and my professors were always busy helping several other student and getting a second of their time was like waiting in line on Black Friday. For the most part, I was on my own, and I had to teach myself from scratch. Later down the road, I found that was the best thing for me, because I feel I have achieved mastery of my current and past subjects.
I want to help students learn the way I did, and I want to show the tips and tricks I used and am still using to this day. I began tutoring freshman year of high school, helping the general education classes with another student under the help of one of the head math instructors. Now as a Senior Mechanical Engineering student, I have tutored hundreds of students, of a range of ages, in several topics: from 1st grade math to college Calculus, or Physics to Solidworks 3D Modeling.
I have an associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering, and as I am pursing my full Bachelor's Degree I have also earned a Math minor for higher level math. I have been certifies as a Solidwork associate, and I have assisted many students learn 3D modeling.
I have researched under multiple professors and even particiapted in paid undergraduate research for NASA!
Now as I am finishing school, I am giving back the education industry by teaching those who are still climbing the ladder. I tutor online and in person, at local schools, and my own school. I tutor from ages 6-Adult and I enjoy them all. Teaching comes naturally to me and I want to help everyone clear their mental obstacles and begin learning more efficiently, the right way!
I began tutoring as a job in high school with one of my math instructors. In college I began online tutoring on the weekends. Online tutoring escalated to a whole paltform where I tutored children at the local elementary school, and on campus to the college algebra students.
I am a current Mechanical Engineering student, currently working as an undergraduate researcher for a NASA training grant. I have used a variety of instruments, subjects, and tools to help me. From high level math to low level math, and from 3D modeling to toothpick strcutures, I have used much of my root knowledge and research training to master and practice my subjects.

New students never want to be more confused then when they started. My process begins with getting a student more familiar with his/her subject. thst way it becomes more intuitive and apparent on what the question is asking. Repetition, repetition, repetition. As students, large and lenghty prcoess are oftne hard to understand and memorize. I like to break a topic/subject/problem down into more parts than it is probably necessary. That way by focusing on these smaller portion, it becomes easier to remember, and with enough practice, a large process is not needed to memorize, but several small parts that lead into one another. Giving a student, enough practice is essential. After working with a student one or more times, I continually give them problems to complete, and study, to give them mastery over their topic.
I have worked iwth kids form 6 years old in 1st grade and elementary school, to adults with degrees looking for a little extra help in a subject, or to learn an entirely new subject. My most common student is college students needing help with math or Mechanical Engineering subjects.
