About Cam
As someone who loves learning myself, I have always found that teaching material helps me solidify my own understanding. Thus, I naturally looked for opportunities to teach and support fellow students and have kept it up for almost 15 years.
I have experience teaching and tutoring throughout my high school, undergraduate, and graduate education experience.
In high school at Milton Academy, I voluntarily tutored peers in math, science, writing, and test prep. My peers sought me out as a trusted and knowledgeable resource on these topics, and I was able to help many of them increase their understanding and performance.
In college at Yale University, I held a formal position as an organic chemistry and biochemistry peer tutor for 3 years. I taught these topics 1-on-1 and helped more than a dozen students achieve better test scores and grades in these notoriously difficult courses.
As a graduate student in Bioengineering at UCSD, I have served as a teaching assistant for 3 different graduate-level courses. I have received formal training in best teaching practice. I led lectures, discussion sections, and test review sessions. I received exclusively 5-star reviews from my students.

I start by identifying the student's goals. I see tutoring as a fundamentally collaborative effort. Both myself and my student need to understand what our target is - anything from generally improved understanding to achieving a specific grade or test score. Often a first session can be devoted to this effort. From there, we will determine an appropriate learning plan that positions us best to achieve our goals.
I have worked mostly with high school, undergraduate, and graduate students. However, I have also worked with some middle school students and am willing and able to tutor a wide range of ages and skill levels.

Cam is a very smart tutor. He helped me out with math (calculus, algebra). I'm enrolled in B.Sc. Chemistry. I thought I would fail an exam but Cam helped me to get an A! Something that I didn't think was possible. I'm much more confident with math in general now and have learned good ways to learn math better.
Cam really helped me with my college chemistry and biology classes! He knew about everything we were learning and I appreciated that he had many different ways to explain topics in case I didn't understand at first. Definitely recommended for those topics.
