About Ransen
I tutored college level statistics/probability and calculus (among other topics) for 4 out of the 5 years attended university/grad school at Bentley University in Waltham, MA for a bachelor's in actuarial science (graduated summa cum laude) and a master's in business analytics (graduated with high distinction). 1.5 years of those 4 were spent tutoring online as well as in person, so I am familiar with the challenges faced by having to tutor through a screen.
What I enjoy about tutoring is that I get to combine my loves of math and helping people. Numbers get a bad rap and it's my hope that I am able to help students realize that math doesn't have to be scary or hard. Nothing is more satisfying to me than seeing a student have an "ah-ha!" moment where you can see the gears click into place.
It is not my job to do the student's homework for them. My job two-fold 1) To explain concepts that the student is struggling with in a way that is easy to understand 2) To help the student see how those concepts relate to the questions/problems they have by asking guiding questions and working through the problems/questions with them.
