About Harley

As a student myself I understand the challenges that come with learning a subject that you are unfamiliar with, especially in a traditional school setting where the teaching method might not be optimal. As a tutor, I strive to help deliver a personal and effective teaching method to each student to help them learn and flourish in the subject. I am just starting out with professional tutoring, but I have been helping students for a while now. My knowledge goes to pre-cal and calculus, and I excel in subjects up to Algebra 2.

I enjoy helping students work through their problems and actually teaching them rather than just giving answers. I love it when I'm helping a student and I can tell that they're understanding the subject and are progressing towards their goal.

I have always been fond of helping others work through problems, especially in areas I am proficient in. In my recent education career, I have helped students more regularly and I would like to start doing it on a broader scale and with a wider range of math studies.

I have a high school level of education in pre-cal and downward, and an independent study knowledge of calculus.

With a new student, I like to inquire about the issues most prevalent in their study. I also do my best to figure out what learning style works best for them; whether it be applied studying, memorization, or focusing intently on practice problems.

It is unfair to categorize students as a whole because each student is unique and has their own goals and strengths. With that said, I have worked with a variety of different students, each one having different needs and motivation for the course. I see myself as being versatile when it comes to teaching, I try to connect with the student and understand how I can help them achieve what they want out of the experience and help them grow in that subject.

To a student looking for a math tutor, I would suggest looking for someone you enjoy being around, or at least picture the two of you getting along. Also look for someone passionate about teaching, one of the worst things that can happen when learning is giving it your all and having your educator not have their heart in it. It is also important to find someone who can teach you in a style that fits you to ensure that you're getting the best education you can get.

A recent event I am fond of would be my transition to a new school. I was scared at first of being in a new environment in the middle of the year, but the whole experience was very pleasant. I have met good friends and good educators, as well as finding a new way to learn.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
When asking for help it is best to know how they can help you. A student should ask themselves what specifically is the challenge, what makes it so difficult, how would I like to be helped, and what is the best way for the educator to apply their knowledge to the situation. Some students may not be able to answer the questions on their own and that is completely understandable and acceptable, they just need to express their trouble and the educator can help them work through it.

I do not have a standard price system, I'd say I'm rather flexible. It depends on the household I am working for.
