About Katherine
Over 14 years of experience working with students 4 to 93 years of age. I am CRLA & NTA Certified. I teach according to my students learning style. I have worked with students that have disabilities.
When I first started attending Broward College I used to go to the math lab. In 2005 one of the tutors kept insisting that I should tutor math. He asked me to go to his supervisor and take the test to become a math tutor. I passed the test and became one of the most requested math tutors. Every single student I tutored told me “You need to be a teacher!” As years went by I fell in love with teaching.
I have my A.A. in mathematics and B.A.S. in supervision and management with concentration in math education. I was the weekend supervisor for the Math Lab at Broward College.

Initial meeting will be to assess my students learning style. Then I will assess their strengths and weaknesses. Go over note taking, studying, and Organization skills.
I have worked with students with disabilities. Ages 4 to 93.
Make sure to have a conversation with your teacher to make sure communication lines are clear. If your teacher does speak with an accent you want to make sure that it doesn't interfere with your understanding of the material at hand
I recently received an email from an old student of mine she struggled with algebra and statistics. I helped her pass both classes. She told me I changed her life and if it wasn’t for me she would not have been able to go to nursing school.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Make a list of what you need help with then take a minute to rewrite your list in order of most important to least important or least challenging. Also, make sure to mention your learning strengths and weaknesses. For example my strength has always been visual learning. I am weak when it comes to auditory learning due to the fact that I am not a native English speaker. My native language is Turkish. This also makes it hard for me to do mental math since hearing the numbers doesn't help me visualize the right number since all numbers when spoken sound all the same and don't stand out to me like they do in Turkish.
