About Carlos
I see tutoring as an art. In order to be a successful tutor, one must learn how to engage a student not only in an intellectual level, but also on an emotional one. As a tutor I strive to not only improve your grades, but also your confidence and emotional proficiency. During my college career and subsequent graduation as Magna Cum Laude, I learned some of the qualities that make a successful student, individual and leader. I am a certified teacher in the state of Texas with 3 years of experience in teaching. My objective is to share my knowledge and passion for mathematics with every student, thus, incorporating a positive influence in their lives.
My degree is in Computational Mathematics from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. As an undergraduate, I tutored students in the mathematics advancement center, where I taught subjects that ranged from algebra to multivariable calculus and differential equations. I also worked as a Supplemental Instructor for calculus courses where I was in charge of helping multiple students clarify their questions.
My tutoring style is highly individualized. As I try to adapt to a specific student, I take into consideration many factors: Their demographics, personality and learning style to name a few. I like to ask questions in order to assess the student's strengths and weaknesses and develop a lesson plan from there.
Currently, I am only taking adults, high-school, and college students.
