About McKenna
Hello there!
I am a new tutor trying to find some people to work with. I am currently a college student majoring in pre-veterinary/biology.
I never liked math until high school when algebra really clicked with me. Since Freshman year, I have absolutely loved math (specifically algebra).
In high school, I participated in "Big Brothers Big Sisters" for my last two years of high school. I loved helping the children with their homework and the teachers even saw some improvement towards the end of the year. However, I love working with students of all ages and being able to help them to understand and hopefully enjoy math like I do.
I currently work as an emergency veterinary technician/assistant. I absolutely love the rush and the enriching feeling the position gives me. Yet because this field is so demanding, I felt inspired to look for a student in need of help, in hope of easing the stressful work environment with children.
I was volunteering for "Big Brother Big Sisters" in my last two years of high school. I worked with two individuals during those two years. The teacher reported that their grades seemed to have improved towards the end of the year.
I also babysat for my friend 4 days a week. Her daughter was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, intellectually disabled, and had speech impediment.

I am new to the tutoring process but I want to make sure my student and I have a base relationship. I want to know what my students goals are and know where their skill lies. I will always look over their syllabus and obtain the lesson ahead of them to look over prior to studying.
My cousin was diagnosed with severe ADHD at a young age. During a short period when he was staying with my parents and I, I was able to help get him up to speed with his math and reading. My cousin helped me understand the best ways to help him. Within the first two hours I was able to have a method down to help get the best results.
My "littles" from "Big Brothers Big Sisters" both suffered from trama. I was also able to understand their needs and how far I can work with them before they became to anxious and frustrated.

Details
Pricing will vary depending on the student. For a 6th grader or younger, my rate is $20. A 7th grader to a 8th grader is $25. Any student above 8th grade will be $30.
Pricing can be negotiated depending on level of study and skill of student.
