About Karen
My services stand out based on the results of the students learning and understanding of the classes in which they are struggling.
I enjoy helping students understand their learning abilities and how to go about understanding things in a way that they learn. Every student has potential if given the time and understanding that they may need.
I have a B.S. in Multidisciplinary Studies with a minor in Elementary Education. A Masters's degree in Elementary Education. An Ed.S degree in Counseling and Psychology. I am currently working on my Doctorate degree in Education Administration K-12.
I am a certified teacher for grades K-8 and I have a special education endorsement for grades K-12, with moderate to severe disabilities.
I currently am an IEP Coordinator in which I help develop Individualized Education Plans (IEP's) for students with learning disabilities.
I enjoy teaching and helping students learn even when it is challenging.

I generally listen to the student and get to know their learning abilities. From that conversation, we talk about where they are struggling. We then proceed to tackle the challenging area together. When a student shows growth, depending on the growth I will challenge them a little bit more. All while encouraging them and pointing out things that make the learning process easier for them in the areas. Please note that there is not a cookie-cutter process for students as each student is their own person and may not learn at the same rate as their typical peers.

She was very understanding with my son as he has a learning disability. She took the time to get to know the way he learned and helped us to understand that as well. She was able to encourage my son and build his confidence in himself and was always available when we needed her. She is very knowledgeable in all areas. My son is now taking the strategies that he learned and applying them now with his classes. He has gone from a failing grade to a "B" in his subjects, which is a major improvement.
