About Lucy
I feel that everyone is a Teacher in their own way. We teach others without even knowing it every single day. We also learn from each other if we allow ourselves. I'm the mother of four children. My two older daughters are attending college in Pittsburgh currently and I have another daughter in high school. My youngest son is currently in middle. After graduating from Temple University and working with so many different children including my on full-time I was able to continue my education through experience and I feel that my children and the students Ive had continue to teach me every single day.
I graduated from Temple University with an early/elementary Ed degree. Immediately out of college I worked in early childhood education for several years. In the past 5 years I have been a paraprofessional and Ive worked for Peters Township School District with a variety of different students, mostly one on one. This past year I was able to obtain an Emergency Teacher Certificate (ETC) and I was working as a Substitute Teacher as well.

My typical process when working one on one with students is to find out what they need the most help with.
first I like to know what it is they are learning. Find out what the student already knows about the content and where exactly they are have trouble so I can break it down and help them get past this point where they are stuck.
As a teenager, I started out as a babysitter helping neighbors with their children after school, weekends, and in the summer.
After graduation I worked in daycare and also a Teacher's aide.
I've worked with Special Ed students one on one both in and outside of the classroom. Providing ELA help, small reading groups. Speech help, math help.
I've also worked as a Substitute Teacher leading the entire class and following the lesson plans that were left for me by the Teacher to implement to the class.
Make sure the Teacher will be helpful to them.
After a recent assignment a little girl helped me learn and discover that I had stage 3 breast cancer back in 2017. I was able to continue working part-time off and on throughout my treatments. I was recently given NED no evidence of disease! That's about the best news anyone with cancer could ever hear!! I also recently ran into the little girl who un-knowingly helped me out and she is also doing amazing as well.
