About Brooklyn
I am very good at not only teaching, but making a student more interested in learning. Most students struggle in make because it is "difficult and boring", but in reality, it is simple because there is a definite answer, you can show evidence for your answer, and it is used in everyday life. I can explain math easily with very relative topics to everyday life as well as make the topics interesting while doing so.
The most rewarding thing about tutoring is proving to people that anyone can learn math with the right teaching. I have helped students in the bottom of their classes become straight A students across the board. Some of my peers that I had helped throughout school made A's in honors and AP courses after struggling for years to only pass. It is very satisfying to help people succeed and reach for higher goals.
I've always excelled in mathematics and physics, and my teacher in 4th grade asked if I would be interested in trying peer tutoring after school. I found out I was fairly good at it, and began getting paid by other students to tutor them. This led to opportunities with tutoring some of their siblings. I still help people in my classes that struggle when I can, but it's not official tutoring.
I have tutored all through grade school. I have no official training, but have plenty of freelance experience.

I take about 10-20 minutes to ask questions and get to know their interests and skill level. This helps me better plan for what to teach and how to teach it to meet their individual needs.
All levels of grade school with a variety of subjects and understanding of them. I've tutored for SAT and ACT math, AP Stats/Calc, Honors mathematics, as well as remedial math and students at risk of flunking out of high school.
While experience is the first thing people look for, it's not always the best signifier. Someone who is passionate about what they're teaching and helping people understand it is always very important, but it's also important to find someone that is a good fit for you individually. Not everyone learns the same, and as somebody who has had a tutor and some teachers that didn't teach in a way I could fully retain the information, I understand the importance of catered learning and have developed many styles of teaching to try to help the best I can.
WVU Statler Engineering College has a STEM event to inspire and encourage young girls (elementary level) to be more involved and take an interest in STEM subjects/fields. I love this event. I'm really passionate about the growth of STEM, and I love seeing kids (and especially girls) get excited about science and math. There's some really cool stuff that can be done, and I hate that grade school can put a negative stigma around such great and useful subjects.
