About Nirmal
I am a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University School of Medicine. I hold a PhD in genetics and molecular biology from University College London, Institute of Neurology.
Since 2009 I've been tutoring English, maths and science to highschool students on a regular basis.
From August 2011 to July 2012 I worked at Oxford International College, teaching science and maths for both in-class and private tuition. I offered extracurricular guitar lessons and served as a teacher-in-residence to manage boarding house duties.
In 2012 I received Problem-Based Learning (PBL) tutor training from St. George’s University of London, where I served as a tutor for medical, biomedical science and master of pharmacy students for 7 years. My training there involved engaging students in solving clinical-based problems and using self-directed research to make a diagnosis.
I was also a laboratory demonstrator, marked BSc dissertations and summative MCQs/SAQs, and contributed to standard-setting for MBBS (MD) assessments using the Angoff method.
I greatly enjoy teaching both children and adults, and I believe my training and experiences gained from various teaching roles are good indicators of my suitability to be a private tutor from middle school level and above.
