About Mahdi
I am an experienced math teacher. I've taught four courses and assisted the instructor in several classes during my graduate study.
My background is in applied mathematics and engineering. I've passed many advanced courses in mathematics and published numereous papers in accredited journals.
My teaching phylosophy is to be very patient with students, provide a higher level preview of the material, then give details, and help the student digest the details by different examples.
I'm very open to feedback and comments. If parents and students could provide additional resources themselves, it's really appreciated. Also, I'm quite accessible and available; I respond to texts, messages and emails pretty quickly.
I really enjoy when I see students understand a complicated topic. The challenge to break down a sophisticated topic for a student to better understand is always the interesting part of teaching. I like my approach that starts by giving a high-level picture and then dig into the details. That helps a lot and I enjoy it!
Another thing is working with youth. They're energetic, and it's sometimes challenging to make them focus on a topic. But that challenge is something that I enjoy it.
I started teaching as teaching assitant in the graduate school. I then did some one-on-one tutoring for students in the university.
I have a PhD degree in Industrial Engineering. My research focus was on applied mathematics topics. I passed several advanced courses in applied mathematics.
Also, because I was interested in teaching, I served as teaching assistant and instructor for some classes. For that, I participated in some workshop for teaching approaches.

I first ask the student and parents to provide the expectations. Next, if the student and parents any resources about the topic to share, whether they're books, class notes, etc. Then, we think about in how many sessions we want to deliver the goals and whether it's possible or not. Of course it very depends on the student's capabilities. We then kick off the first meeting!
