About Scott
I have over 30 years of experience teaching and tutoring math for grade 4 to Algebra 1. I know the mistakes students make the most often, and I know a variety of methods for teaching concepts. I also have an extensive collection of hands-on and supplemental materials to reinforce the material.
I like when a student says, "Oh! Now I get it!" or "That's better than the way my teacher does it!" I also like when grades go up because I know I have helped.
I taught math for grade 4 to Algebra 1 for 30 years, and I have been tutoring since the year 2000. I am very thorough with my work. I was raised in New York, and, as a result, I have learned the material in a different way than it is taught in Florida. If a student just isn't understanding the material, I come up with alternative methods to ensure success.

During the school year, I used Dade County's pacing guide to see whet he or she is working on, as wel as what will be covered next. The student decides what topic will be covered, and with any time left, I introduce the next topic so he or she will be comfortable and familiar enough to be confident in class.
During the summer, I do a review of the previous year's materials and administer Dade County's Baseline test to see what topics need extra attention for the upcoming school year.
