About Noble
I am a Mathematics PhD student at the University of California with two years of experience as a TA where I run discussions and hold office hours for college level math. I have experience running classes online due to school shut-downs from Covid-19 and in particular want to help students who are struggling for that reason. On top of my experience as a TA, I also have an additional four years of experience as a tutor at the University of Utah and other organizations where I have worked with students from middle school through college.
My success in math was far from immediate. I struggled with math growing up and it was my weakest score on the ACT but I always loved problem solving and the feeling of picking apart a difficult problem and finally coming up with a solution. I chased this feeling all the way through a BS in mathematics and into a PhD and I want more than anything to help other students who struggle with math the feel that joy and to see the beauty in this fascinating subject.
I worked at a mathematics tutoring center at the University of Utah as an undergraduate sophomore and I loved it. It's very satisfying to see students come into the center frustrated and disgruntled and leave feeling relieved, excited, and proud of themselves for unraveling the secrets of a difficult problem.
I hold a BS in Mathematics from the University of Utah and am working on a PhD at the University of California, Riverside where I work as a TA directly with undergraduate math students. On top of that, I have five years of experience as a tutor in various summer programs and tutoring centers.

I like to begin by having a conversation with the student about how they study math currently. I find that a lot of students struggle because they haven't found a study strategy that works well for them. That's the first thing I like to fix because while they may only speak with me directly for a couple hours every week, developing strong study skills will benefit them all the time.
I have worked with students from middle school through college at all levels. In particular, I have plentiful experience with students whose first language is not english.

He was patient and did well to explain what I was struggling with in the broader context of what I was learning which had me truly understanding the material and not just memorizing formulas. Also, when I was just not understanding something, he was able to explain it in many different ways until I got it. He was the reason I did well in my class!
