About Nicholas
Math is so fun! I grew up with a struggle in most areas but math was always one that kept me focused and was the single area I excelled most at. I'd say I can tutor all math up to and including algebra 1, in a way that best suits the students way of learning. Whether they be a kinetic, auditorial, or visual learner I will make sure the student understands and enjoys what they're learning.
I tutored once before to a seventh grader covering all subjects he unfortunately was expelled from his school for reasons I don't know and was switched to home school where his retired grandmother started to teach him making me obsolete. I found this client through care.com and she sent many other students my way that I only ever helped a time or two. It was good for extra cash in addition to my day job plus it was something I really enjoyed doing.
I don't have many qualifications for this role although I passed all my high school math classes with a b or higher and scored a 32 in the math section of the ACT.

I will get to know them and then I will usually take the first ten minutes of our first session for the student to take a test that enables me to understand what kind of learner they are. After having this information and getting to know them further and their interests I can help tutor them in a way that best helps them to understand the material.
I've worked with two students on more than three occasions and one suffered from severe ADHD and was difficult to work with but we were able to find methods that helped him focus like occasional candies or music. The other student was a very fast and intuitive learner just wasn't being taught correctly and after being shown how to do the work was able to pretty much zoom through the tutoring session with little error and help.
