About Brian
With the experience I have tutoring different age levels, I know how to modify my approach based on individual need and age levels. I am able to quickly pin point the strengths and weaknesses of my tutee and help them accordingly.
I have held multiple tutoring jobs helping such students, from preparation for standardized tests such as GRE, SAT, etc., or just for general improvement in classes they are struggling with. My ability to break down into simple terms, different mathematical concepts, and more importantly having the patience needed to allow my tutee to strive, is what makes me a great tutor.
I offer my clients the opportunity to determine whether I am the right tutor for their needs with a reduced cost first session. This also allows me to gauge how much help is needed. I offer this this to my potential clients becauase i know how important it is to choose the right tutor for the job.
It gives me great joy/satisfication when my tutee grasp a concept that I have explained to or taugtht them. I strive on helping others throughout my own personal life and tutoring gives me the opportunity to help others doing something I love, math.
My tutoring experience began while I was attending univeristyas I was always good at math. I held various paid tutoring postions at my university, tutoring various age groups (college level and high school) and also did volunteery tutroing at times as a means to sharpen my own math skills.
I have also provided colleagues with helo with their own classes while attending college. All of the experience I have tutroing, combined with my own understanding mathematical topic and my willingness to help others is what makes me a great tutor.
While attending college I had multiple tutoring jobs tutoring k-12 and up to colleges level math. My education background is in structural engineering so I am required to have strong knowledge of math and related subjects (physics, statics, etc.) to work in my field.

I typically first try to get a feel of how strong the fundamental background is of a student to find out whether or not a strengthening of their foundational knowledge is needed before tackling an area they may be having difficulty with.
I like to also go over as many example problems for a specific math topic as possible, as with math, repetition is a great way to mastering and remembering how to complete a math problem. I use many analogies while tutoring, where possible, to help the student understand a math problem better.
