About Sumukha
Hi everyone, I’m Sumukha, a postgraduate student in Data Science at UNSW with a strong background in Mathematics, Statistics, and Programming. I have a strong interest in data and math and always enjoyed problem-solving and simplifying complex concepts, which is why I started tutoring — to help students gain the same clarity and confidence that I developed through my studies and projects. I hold a Bachelor’s in Information Science (9.3 CGPA), have published research in AI, and worked for 2+ years at Hewlett Packard Enterprise before moving into advanced studies. I’ve also conducted workshops on Python and Statistics, so I’m experienced in breaking down topics for learners at different levels. My goal as a tutor is not just to “teach for exams,” but to build lasting understanding of concepts so that students feel motivated and capable in mathematics, data, or coding.

✦ My Approach to Tutoring I focus on building strong fundamentals first and then gradually moving toward problem-solving and applications. Instead of diving deep into hard problems, I make sure every student learns the concepts first which can then be applied to any problem with ease. I also encourage students to ask “why” instead of just memorizing formulas, so they gain confidence in applying concepts. ✦ Lesson Structure & Length A typical lesson runs for 60 to 90 minutes. I usually start by a short review of my previous class, then cover new topics with worked examples, and finish with practice problems for homework. ✦ My Qualifications & Experience - Bachelor of Engineering in Information Science (9.3 CGPA) from a top university in India. - Published IEEE research paper in NLP & Deep Learning. - 2+ years of professional experience at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). - Conducted college workshops on Python (Tkinter, OpenCV) and statistics for peers (90+ attendants). - Certified in Deep Learning Specialization (Coursera) and multiple IIT NPTEL data/ML courses. - Strong background in programming languages - Python, C/C++ and Linux based systems. ✦ Who My Lessons Are For - University students struggling with Linear Algebra, Probability, or Data/Algorithm courses. - High school students (Year 9–12) who need help with Mathematics or Statistics. - Beginners in Python/Data Science who want structured guidance.
