About Margaret
I have worked as a tutor for the full range of students; from tutoring in the alternative learning center in my high school to teaching SAT prep courses at some of the most selective high schools in DC, Maryland, and Virginia, I have learned many ways to explain subjects and connect with students. I have always loved learning so having opportunities to help others learn brings me so much joy.
I love when my students start to make connections and get excited about what they're learning. It's also amazing seeing all of the new things I am able to learn as I teach new students. Returning to subjects and finding new ways to understand them is always enjoyable.
I have officially been working as a tutor since my sophomore year of high school. I worked as a math tutor for the department at my high school and as a general tutor at the alternative learning center. During my time in college, I served as an SAT tutor for a company in DC. With that company, I functioned primarily as an English tutor but filled in for the Math tutors if the necessity arose. I worked with all three groups of students (beginner, intermediate, and advanced).

I like to have an initial meeting with the student to learn about what things they are struggling with, ways they have tried to understand the material, ways they enjoy learning, and their learning goals. I then like to look over the material and familiarize myself with what is being asked of the student before scheduling follow-up sessions to work toward the student's learning goal.
