About Philip
My name is Philip Evans. I have been teaching math for the past four years, and have been tutoring off and on for the past nine years. My undergraduate work was in mathematics at Saint John's University and I have a Master's of Education degree from the University of Notre Dame.
I believe each student has the capacity to learn mathematics, and that some students simply need extra help to get there. I have seen first hand what a hard working student can accomplish with one-on-one help from a teacher or tutor.
I began to have an interest in teaching when I was in 8th grade. When I was in high school, I tutored younger students during the summer. I then studied to become a math teacher in college.
I have Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint John's University where I studied mathematics and a Masters of Education from the University of Notre Dame.

In the first tutoring session, I have the student (or parent) talk about what they have been learning and where they have been struggling. We will talk about the best way I can support the student and create a plan moving forward.
I have worked with a range of students; ones who struggle with math, students trying to move ahead a level in math for the following school year, and students preparing for a school or standardized test such as the ACT or SAT.
Find a teacher/tutor you feel comfortable asking questions to and working with. Asking questions and making mistakes are a great way to learn.
