I've had 10+ years photographing everything from wildlife, landscapes, sporting events, company events, weddings, portraits and headshots. I shoot both film and digital. I love shooting portraits and people. I was Vice President of the Ogden Camera Club for 1 year. Then served at President for two years. I'm self-taught and have invested thousands of dollars in workshops and training on both photography and Photoshop skills. I'm a photographer that believes getting it right in camera is more important than getting it right on the computer.
I enjoy teaching and sharing. I beleive photography is an art and a talent. And there should be no secrets. Giving someone that "a-ha!" moment where learning and creativity happen is a remarkable feeling.
Through the Ogden Camera Club, being asked by local organizations to teach, and through my blog on film photography.
During my time as President of the Ogden Camera Club, I presented new concepts and material to large groups each week. I've also taught classes at the Weber Basin Water Conservancy District, the Ogden Botanical Gardens, and the Ogden Nature Center.

New students should expect to have a printed or digital copy of their cameras manual. We start with the basics of the exposure triangle. Then go into depth on how f-stop, shutter speed and ISO affect an image. We cover the basics of composition. We cover lighting, types of light, light temperature. And lastly we cover editing and post processing. Between lessons, students should expect to have an assignment to show the concepts covered and have their work critiqued.
I have worked with very young students, elementary children, all the way to seniors. I am very patient and don't expect each item I teach to be mastered immediately.
Look for an instructors photography work online. With an art like photography, you want a teacher that is willing to mentor and inspire your creativity at the same time challenge you to try new things. Make sure his/her photography aligns with your taste.
Since August 2017, I have been working with a highschool senior who became interested in film photography. Having never shot film, only digital, was a new experience for her. We have covered everything from using an all mechincal camera, and shooting, to developing her first roll of black and white film.

Details
My price is based on a 1 1/2 hour lesson. The first hour I will present materials and work one-on-one with a student. The student is expected to have a camera with them and ready to use. The last 30 minutes will be dedicated to student questions.
