About Jonathan
I bring 13 years of teaching experience across all high school sciences. I can also tutor in math. My Bachelor's Degree is in Biology with an emphasis on Ecology.
I really enjoy being helpful to students and their parents. I am currently in Nursing School so I can help people. Teaching was a passion, but I wanted to more directly impact people's lives by saving them.
My oldest child was born during my last year of college and I wanted something to do with my passion for learning. So I chose to go into teaching.
I was a high school classroom teacher for 13 years at a low-income and middle-income school. I taught a variety of students from varied backgrounds. I also have a Bachelor's Degree in Biology. As part of my Bachelor's Degree, we had to take math through Calculus.

To try and assess their needs based on the class I am tutoring. Also to find what area within a subject they are struggling. Every student has different needs and I would try to tailor my teaching method to reach the student.
All types. Everything from students in private schools that had their own tutors to students that immigrated to this country seeking a better life.
Look for someone with actual experience working with varied backgrounds. Not all students learn the same and some need extra help.
Finding success with my students in the age of Covid. I also have a lot of former students that stay in contact with me. It is great getting to watch the success of my former students and know I played a small part in that.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think through and try to be specific about what their struggles are. Hopefully, trust can be built where the student understands that this is a safe space where they will not be looked down upon.

I charge $25/hour and my current job allows me to have very flexible tutoring times. So we can work out a schedule that works best for the student.
