About Allison
As a former high school teacher, I have experience teaching chemistry, physical science, earth and environmental science, and AP Physics 1.
I love helping students understand difficult concepts as well as coming up with creative ways for students to better grasp the challenging material that comes with upper-level sciences.
I have a bachelors degree in physics with a concentration in medical physics and a minor in chemistry and mathematics from Marshall University.
I began teaching right out of college. Teaching science to me is like sharing a favorite movie with a friend; when you really love it you want other to love it as well.

I like to ask students general overview questions, sort of like a pre-assessment, just to see where we are starting with out knowledge of a given topic. When a student is struggling with a question, I like to ask leading questions, as sometimes students do know the answer but haven't used the information in a while and just need a small nudge to access that prior knowledge.
I have worked mostly with honors and AP students but do have experience with all forms of students.
Find someone who you can connect with to a degree. You can't learn from people you don't like.
Also don't settle. If you aren't getting what you need from a tutor, seek out someone else. Don't settle for someone who is just going to read from a textbook for you. You can read a textbook yourself, you need someone who can help you break down this information.
