About Ivan
As a teacher, I aim to provide students with a strong technical foundation while also encouraging srudents to follow their intuition fo find what inspires creativity. Alongside assingning material for students to practice, I ask students what they want to learn and prioritize that.
I have been an active performer in the Twin Cities music scene for about 6 years. I also compose regularily and lead several ensembles
I am currently in my last year of earning a Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. I can teach saxophone, beginning clarinet, and jazz improvisation.

With all students, I like to first take some time to get to know each other.
With beginning students, I start with the fundemnetals. With saxophone and clarinet this means simply getting a sound on the instrument. Once this is achieved, we move on to reading easy sheet music. I also like to ask what kind of music the student likes and explore this in lessons, even if they are only beginners.
