About María del Sol
Lessons are uniquely tailored to the specific needs of each individual student and held in a positive and fun environment to encourage the best possible learning experience.
During lessons, students can expect to learn to play pieces from the classical piano repertoire as well as any other contemporary style of the student’s interest.
Sight-reading is an integral part of the lessons as it allows the student to become autonomous and discover new pieces of music on their own.
Music theory is also built into lesson plans to offer students a strong foundation and understanding of the building blocks, structure, and overall sense of how music works.
Piano technique is positively reinforced in every class. From learning scales and etudes to the monitoring of movement and posture, students are always working on achieving an effective use of their physicality for a performance that expresses clarity and precision.
During lessons, students also work on obtaining a beautiful personal sound and developing an artistic approach and interpretation that can communicate the emotional rides embedded in each musical journey.
Finally, students can expect to participate in four-hand-duets that will refine their ears and develop their musicianship as they adapt to the conditions of playing with another musician.
Equipped with all of those elements and skills, students can effectively cultivate their love and passion for their art form. From there, they can follow their love for music as far and as high as they wish, having the comfort and trust that the piano will always be there for them.
María del Sol holds a Master of Music from New York University and a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Florida International University where she studied under renowned pianist, Kemal Gekic. For over 15 years she has been passing on her knowledge and passion, teaching piano to students of all levels and ages. Her goal is to inspire them to cultivate their love for music and to effectively learn the art and technique of playing the piano.
During her time at New York University, María del Sol also taught music composition at the Screen Scoring department at NYU Steinhardt.
María del Sol is not only a pianist, but also a composer and recording artist. Her music can be found in streaming platforms such as Spotify and YouTube, as well as in films such as José Rivera’s “Sonnets for an Old Century.”
María del Sol believes in teaching with kindness in a friendly and nurturing environment to help her students excel at their art.

Maria has a very gentle but engaged approach. She also encourages creativity as much as skills development. She keeps the lessons focused and fun. We have seen and heard real growth in a short time with our daughter, who'd had lessons already with a different teacher.
María del Sol is a very encouraging and inspirational teacher! Her attention to detail is so helpful and allows me to grow in ways I did not expect! I have definitely improved my skills and have a deeper sense of artistry. I look forward to each lesson!
