About Alexis
My name is Alexis and I have been teaching kids piano since high school, wow, 12 years now. I have a passion for all students, especially kids aged 5 years old to 15, and music. It is extremely important for childhood development!
Through a friend of a friend, I was introduced to a woman who ran a kindermusik program and she needed piano teachers. Since I was experienced and been playing for 10 years at that point, it was a no brainer on both sides :)
I ended giving lessons there when I finished college and starting my career. Now that I am settled in my career, I wanted to start teaching piano on the side as my passion project :)
I taught kindermusik piano for 10 years.

When working with a new student, I will asses their level with asking what they currently know and having them play something for me if they have something they can show me. If they don't, I will pull out some music to gauge how well they can read music. From there, I will decide their level and what music book should be chosen for them.
