About Andrew
I was taught classical piano from ages 4-12 and I hated it for a lot of those years. I was incredible for my age, but felt forced to perform and only continued because of my talent. When I quit, my piano teacher was shocked. Years later I gave piano another try, learning songs by my favorite artists from Billy Joel to Scott Joplin and I fell in love with the instrument again. I started a band with some high school friends and realized the connection one is meant to have with an instrument. It doesn't feel great to be heavily scrutinized over every note as a tuxed up 7 year old. The moments when I have felt most alive have been performing at my high school prom, playing and singing Piano Man for strangers in a airport in Brussels, and the hours I spent improvising songs of my own. Learning an instrument is about playing what you love and enjoying the process of doing so. I am a college student and a non-traditional teacher. I know how to teach, but I also know how to make learning an instrument a passion rather than a task. With 17 years of piano experience and 13 years of saxophone experience (I am also a current member of my college jazz band), I am very knowledgeable about music. I am particularly great with kids but am able to teach all age ranges and all levels. Please reach out to me if interested. I am willing to give some money back if my lessons aren't what you expected as my priority is helping you learn and enjoy that process. Furthermore, I am willing to negotiate price. Hope to jam with you,
Andy B on the Keys
