About Elizabeth
The Charismatic Voice is led by international opera singer, multimedia composer, vocal pedagogue, and creative director, Elizabeth Zharoff. As an educator, she is dedicated to developing technique and musicianship, with particular focus on forming productive work habits & confidence - benefitting all areas of life. She is enthusiastic and empathetic, and holds herself along with her colleagues & students to high daily standards. Ms. Zharoff holds degrees from Oberlin Conservatory, the Curtis Institute of Music, and Berklee School of Music. She continues to further her knowledge by producing music for new genres, teaching all ages and levels, and regularly creating educational videos for her Youtube channel, The Charismatic Voice. She regularly works with grammy-award winning artists as a vocal coach and accompanist, and frequently lends her talents to the video game music industry. She is the director and vocal producer of "Song Cycle: The History of Video Games," an album combining classical and video game music, which was released on iTunes in November 2016, and printed sheet music in April 2019. Ms. Zharoff has performed in 17 languages, throughout major venues in Europe, Asia, Canada, and the United States, including Carnegie Hall, Seattle Opera, Opera Internationale de Bordeaux, the Hollywood Bowl, Metropolitan Opera, Semperoper Dresden, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Opera Philadelphia, Los Angeles Opera, and English National Opera. Ms. Zharoff offers voice, piano, and music theory lessons, as well as combination lessons. She loves teaching in all genres, including classical, musical theater, jazz, soul, R&B, country, rock, and pop.
I love helping people build confidence through tools and practice, and enabling them to express their message. Taking music lessons is more than just developing a skill - it reaches into and benefits all areas of life.
I got an early start in music because my mother was a piano & voice teacher. I began winning large piano competitions in middle school, and originally thought I would be a concert pianist. However, when I discovered that my voice was even more capable of moving people's hearts, I decided to single-mindedly pursue singing.
After performing for over a decade, I decided I wanted to expand my reach again, to reach even more people. I expanded to coach in multiple genres, and started passing on the tools needed for my students to communicate their message to the world.
Master's Degree in Opera - Curtis Institute of Music

I conduct a brief interview first, to ascertain my new customer's dedication, and also outline goals. I tailor lessons to each student, and create exercises to suit their needs. I want to make sure we have the same target in mind before embarking.
I create a shared online folder for each student, where I keep notes from our lessons. I also upload reference documents there, as well as notes from our "getting to know you" interview.
I work with a huge range of singers! Some have never sung for another person in their life. Some have been singing opera for years.
I'm honestly very excited to work with any and all ages. I can also teach piano to help with music-reading and pitch-matching.
Genre is never a barrier: in additional to classical music, I've worked with singers in R&B, country, hip-hop, pop, musical theater, heavy metal, soul, etc.
I've also worked with special needs children, and can provide references as needed.
Make sure you find someone who understands the science behind your vocal folds. You can do irreparable vocal damage by learning the wrong techniques. You use your voice every day, and this just isn't worth risking.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should carefully consider their goals, and also consider how much practice time they will have available to dedicate to those goals.

I have been singing on for 16 years now for rock bands, as a solo singer. I knew I had a natural talent and great voice however what I had in talent I lacked in training. Fast forward to 2017 when I started working with Elizabeth Zharoff on my singing.
She is an absolute delight to work with. From day one we established my goals, both short term and long term, genres I was interested in and assessing my current level of skill and technique.
Before I took any lessons with Elizabeth I had a great voice (humble I know) however the caveat was I didn't know how to use it properly. Touring with my band I used blow my voice out every second night which was far from ideal - because I wasn't trained in the proper use of my voice.
When I started working with Elizabeth the warm ups, repertoire ranging from rock to musical theater to Latin choir and hands on approach to my singing helped me go from strength to strength.
The difference is night and day - I never hurt my voice anymore, my range has expanded significantly, my falsetto sounds haunting and beautiful (as opposed to like a quacking duck before) and I feel a confidence that I can tackle anything I put my mind to.
Working with a Singing teacher remotely over services Skype or Google Hangout would seem like a hindrance - however Elizabeth's skill to communicate concepts transcends distance and is representative of her masterful approach to teaching and putting her student at ease.
I have been working with Elizabeth for 2 years now on Skype and I think I could work with her easily for another 2 as there are always new things to learn. I cannot recommend working with her enough.Elizabeth is an extraordinary teacher. She is more knowledgeable about the physicality, mentality, and emotional factors that go into voice than anyone I have met. I have made leaps and bounds in my progress as a vocalist thanks to Elizabeth’s attentive and supportive teaching style. I am glad to know her as a person and proud to learn from her every lesson.
Elizabeth is an amazing teacher! Due to her professional opera background, she is extremely knowledgeable and versatile in her teaching methods for singing and all things voice-related. During my first session with her, it truly felt like she was tailoring her lesson around me and my goals specifically, and she did it all without me ever feeling self-conscious. I will definitely be continuing to use her services!
Elizabeth does such a great job of challenging my son in ways that he feels successful, and she keeps him engaged with songs that appeal to his sense of playfulness. Now that I think of it...she does that for me, too!
During my lesson, she pushes me where I'm comfortable, breaks things down when I'm feeling overwhelmed or confused, and let's me try things out when I'm feeling confident.
The pacing of her lessons keep both my son and I improving steadily week to week... it's amazing to look back and see how much we've improved since starting lessons almost two years ago! I couldn't be happier with my decision to learn piano as an adult, and there's no one I'd rather learn from. As my son says, "Elizabeth is an epic piano teacher." I couldn't agree more.Working with Elizabeth Zharoff for the last six months has been absolutely magical. I decided to take voice lessons to help boost my confidence and level my voice out a bit, and she's been able to help me adjust my pitch, smooth my vocals out more and really come into my own as a singer. The warm-ups and tools she's imparted on me not only help during our regular lessons, but also as I practice during the week prior to our next session. It's been such an amazing growth experience, I couldn't recommend anyone else better.
