About Leonie
I have had the pleasure to tutor many students in multiple subjects since 2010, helping students to improve their grades and pass their exams remains a rewarding task.
Over the years, I have offered my services through various tutoring agencies, and schools, as well as privately organizing lessons. Currently, I am working on the development of books based on the latest neuroscientific research in the learning and motivation field. These insights help us to identify your particular learning process, potential blocks, and how to resolve these so we can learn more effectively and have more motivation and engagement. Our lessons provide you with insight and practical tips in 'learning how to learn'.

What are we going for? Understanding the material, increasing study skills, and developing confidence in your abilities are our main goals.
To offer you the best possible support we determine your particular needs together. We then decide how to cater to them by making a suitable combination of tutoring, homework support, and study coaching:
1. Subject-specific: I'll explain the material at a pace that suits you and tailor my approach to your way of thinking.
2. Feedback on your homework: not only will we determine where things went well/wrong and what we can learn from this, but also how to work more efficiently, preventing those pesky minor errors and completing questions efficiently. This can be especially useful when experiencing pressure during tests.
3. Planning: We will look at your schedule together, do you allow for enough time to get your homework done, and is there enough room for repetition to actually understand and retain the material sufficiently?
4. ... and of course you will learn study skills and methods in order to gain full comprehension of the material with a focus on the 'why'. Learning how to learn gives you the tools and confidence to work with new information regardless of the subject.
So what would a lesson be like?
We will tackle the material together using the teach-back method. This means you will be able to clearly explain the material in your own words before we move on to the next section, allowing me to make sure your level of understanding forms a good basis to maximize your learning gains while working on the exercises.
We work towards your understanding by asking 'why'-questions. 'Why is this so, why does that work in such a way'. The answers to these questions we find by exploring the material, what is already familiar to you, what can you reason out yourself? Learn how to think, learn how to learn.
Whenever you get stuck I'll guide you to the next step by asking the right questions and giving hints as needed. The focus on the 'why' of things allows you to build insight and understanding, helping you to flexibly connect and process information.

-> Feel more confident in your abilities and any stress about tests and 'having to perform' decreases.

Excellent! Leonie is prettig om contact mee te hebben als ouder, zij informeert je goed over de leer ontwikkeling bij je kind en geeft goed aan wat nog nodig is. Ze is goed bereikbaar en beschikbaar als docent voor extra vragen. Een goede bijlesdocent!
- Rika is een fijne leerling die goed haar best doet om de stof te begrijpen. Ze geeft duidelijk aan wanneer ze iets niet volgt en stelt zelf vragen. Dit maakt het werken met haar soepel en inspringen op wat ze nodig heeft goed op maat. Blijf werken aan het opbouwen van je vaardigheden en regelmatig oefenen met een focus op inzicht in de stof ontwikkelen zodat je variaties in opgaven goed kan verwerken. Perfect! Heldere uitleg en naderhand fijn verslag wat er gedaan is tijdens de les. Ze kijkt verder dan alleen het huiswerk. Herhaalt waar nodig eerdere stof zodat huiswerk makkelijker wordt

Perfect! Leonie is een topper! Ze doet het super goed met haar rustige gestructureerde aanpak en onze dochter Moon gaat met sprongen vooruit. En de feedback die Leonie na de lessen geeft…geweldige analyse waar je als ouder je kind extra mee kan begeleiden!
De ouders van Moon- Moon gaat de goede kant op, haar begrip van de stof begint zich te verbeteren en ze is minder geintimideerd door nieuwe onderwerpen. Leonie heeft mijn dochter goed geholpen met haar wiskunde schoolexamens. Lisa sloeg snel dicht tijdens de toetsen en heeft met een half jaar ondersteuning al meer vertrouwen gekregen en ook haar cijfers zijn goed verbeterd.
Dit jaar wilde Lisa zelf graag weer ondersteuning van Leonie voor eindexamens. Zeker een aanrader!Leonie legt goed uit, heeft veel geduld voor mijn zoon. Wij zijn dik tevreden. Ik zou haar zeker aanraden
Door haar manier van werken, weet Leonie goed te achterhalen welke kennis ontbreekt om wiskunde opgaves te kunnen oplossen. Ze weet zo precies waar aan gewerkt moet worden. Leonie besteedt veel aandacht aan de manier waarop een opgave aangepakt moet worden. Deze kennis kon mijn zoon ook toepassen bij andere vakken waardoor hij uiteindelijk met vlag en wimpel is geslaagd.
Leonie weet super goed de stof over te brengen naar een leerling en is erg geduldig. Verder zorgt ze voor een fijne sfeer en is er altijd tijd voor een gezellig praatje tussendoor.

Details
Lessons are agreed upon on a monthly basis. The minimum duration of a lesson is 90 minutes (shorter possible for young children) in combination with a regular schedule for best results. Additionally, lesson extensions can be agreed upon when requested.
Would you like to book a single lesson from time to time? Please reach out to discuss your particular need.
You can change lessons up to 24h before our appointment, otherwise, the full lesson will be charged for.
Outside of our lesson hours, you can always send me a message with a short question about your homework, and of course, I love hearing about your tests and results! Lessons will be followed by a short report on progress, homework, and plans for upcoming lessons.
