Provides therapeutic conversations with patients who are currently going through crisis. The Behavioral Health unit is a specialized unit within the emergency department that holds psychiatric patients until they can be transferred to mental health or substance abuse facilities. Work with and discuss findings with nursing staff, sitters, and doctors. Writes clear and concise notes. Deescalates situations when called for and maintains therapeutic milieu.
February 2019 - July 2019 Mental Health Technician Strategic Behavioral Center, Leland, NC
Working collaboratively with physicians, psychiatric nurses, and therapists in order to create and carry out the best care plan for each patient. Responsible for both informal and formal psycho-educational, recreational and interpersonal skills development groups. During this training, I was responsible for shadowing a Second Lieutenant who was the Platoon Leader for the 300th Military Police Company. For three weeks I was familiarized with the job of a Platoon Leader, Military Police Unit, accountability reports, physical fitness planning and execution, building a training calendar, interacting with subordinates and colleagues.
