About Kelly
I am a 2011 Albany Area High School graduate. During my time there I was involved in many extracurricular activities and was a state competitor in Cross Country, along with Track and Field. During my senior year I chose to pursue post secondary education at St. Cloud State University. I am also a 2018 graduate of the University of Minnesota, Morris. During my course of education there I took interest in many different fields of study before finding my passion of understanding and helping people, especially children. I received a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. I intend to pursue my Master's Degree in Child Psychology or Social Work sometime in the near future.
I have always enjoyed working with children. From playing school with my younger siblings as we were growing up, to teaching my son how to read, I have always had a thirst for knowledge. I love challenging my brain and teaching others the same. Over the past several months, I have been employed at Hancock Public Schools, working with middle school students (7th, 8th, and 9th grade) as a paraprofessional/teacher's aide. I truly enjoy working with kids and helping them gain the confidence in themselves to excel in the academic world.
As I have previously stated, I hold years of experience passing on knowledge to younger people from personal to professional settings and have always enjoyed it.
I have always been very involved in school activities/programs at all different age levels. I have helped raise two younger siblings, and now have a five year old son of my own who we are home-schooling. I have experience working in a daycare center with young children, and most recently the opportunity to be working with adolescents in an academic setting. I have always enjoyed teaching and answering questions. As I have previously stated I have always had a thirst for knowledge and love learning new things each and every day. I hope to pass this love for knowledge on to other young minds.

The first steps I like to take with new students are introductions and reassurances. I like to tell my students a little bit about myself and my background so that they feel I am being open with them and will (hopefully) in turn be open with me. I also like my students to remember that I am not just a teacher but I am a human being as well so they feel like they can relate to me in some aspects. I believe a solid foundation like this will help students to feel more comfortable around me so if there comes a point they need me to repeat myself or slow down that they should not be ashamed in that.
I have mainly worked with very young children and adolescents. I am, however, open to taking on students of all ages.
Make sure that you hire someone who knows what they are talking about. Not to necessarily say that they must hold an academic degree in that specific field but someone who has had enough practical applications and realworld experience to be knowledgable on the subject at hand. Also find someone who is willing to admit when they have made a mistake and be humble about it, after all, we're all human. Chose someone who is willing to utilize resources to ensure they are always giving you the most reliable information. Also chose someone who is personable and patient.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should ensure they are clear when asking teachers questions about things they do not understand. They should be clearly worded and thought out so that teachers do not misinterpret or misinform students when attempting to resolve whatever confusion may arise. It is better to be too clear as opposed to not clear enough.

No. I am just beginning tutoring online. However, I would estimate that rates will vary based upon time, subject matter, and academic level.
