About Andrea

Greetings! After a rewarding career as a K-8 teacher and guidance counselor, I now work part-time as Practicum Coordinator for the teaching program at Schoolcraft College. I'd love the opportunity to support your students during these transitioning times of in-person, hybrid and online learning. I am available for tutoring services in all areas of English Language Arts, Social Studies and beginning Spanish. Please let me know if I can help you. (Vaccinated students only, please.)

As far back as I can remember, I have always been happiest when I'm spending time with children. My extensive experience in education provides me with the tools to compassionately support students both academically and emotionally.

My favorite aspect of teaching is seeing students become aware of the importance of confidence and self-care. It's incredibly rewarding!

I actually began my teaching "career" as a community education gymnastics and swim instructor. I fell in love with teachng at the age of 15!

About the lesson

I'm happy to meet with you at a public library of your choice, within 15 miles of Livonia, Michigan. Tutoring sessions run 1-2 hours.

During our first session, we'll spend a few minutes getting to know one another. If we both feel we're a good fit, we will work for the remaining time of the session.

We can follow a pre-determined schedule or work on an on-call basis. Your choice!

25 years experience of K-8 public education (10 years as an elementary teacher + 15 years as a middle school counselor)

Spend some time reflecting on what you want. Make a list of big-picture goals and a list of specific, smaller goals. Practice describing your needs before you speak with a potential tutor. As always, ask questions!

I recently spent a few weeks traveling through California. I loved it all, but my favorite moments were spent hiking in Yosemite. I can't wait to go back!
