About Malik
It is our mission to teach the art of inline skating as a martial art. We offer instruction in the form of private lessons, group workshops, and seasonal weekly training camps fine-tuned to not only make better skaters but also prepare students to explore the world as ambassadors to the skating community.
In 2009 I had the chance encounter with Olympic Speedskater Nathaniel Mills, during which I was invited to check out the DC-ICE (Inner City Excellence) program. After volunteering as a coach and mentor, I was offered a full-time position in 2012.
In 2015 I met Kris Fondran, director of ICP and trained to receive certification as a level 1 inline/roller skating instructor. The next year I attended Camp Skate IA where I met Trish Alexander, director of Skate IA (Instructor Association). In 2017, I received my level 2 skate instructor certification and began training to be an examiner.
In January 2019 I traveled to Atlanta, GA to certify a group of potential level 1 instructors and finally received my credentials as a skate instructor examiner.

For new students, we start with a basic consultation by phone or e-mail. Our goal is to discover whatever your previous skating experience has been and ensure that you have the proper equipment for classes.
I have worked with a wide range of students ranging from 5 to 82 years old. With 9 years of teaching children and young adults with DC-ICE.
Look for someone who's certified. For years, I "taught" skating as a coach, using the thought process I had used to learn when I first started skating. Once I was certified, I saw the benefits of using a teaching model and truly knowing how to adjust to the needs of students.
