Usually I like to sit down with the student and figure out exactly which areas they would like to work on. The first thing that should be figured out is what you are unsure of or need work on.
Make sure they can assess your needs. Even if they excel in a particular field, if they aren't the best fit for your particular issue, then you might not get the results you expect.
