About Joey
Hi! Welcome to 4our4our: Saxophone Tutoring!
I am Joey Liu, founder of 4our4our, and this tutoring service was created in order to help anyone interested in playing the saxophone. I offer lessons mainly for musicians who are just getting started, covering the essentials of musicality, tone, rhythm, and most imperatively, playing the saxophone. Regarding my musical experience with the saxophone, I have been playing for 10 years, all experienced from the alto, soprano, tenor, and bari saxophone. Competitively, I performed with my high school marching band, The Pride of Temple City, as a Saxophone Section Leader and Band Vice President. I have received Outstanding Awards throughout my 4 years in high school, and just recently, I received the John Phillip Sousa Award - the most prestigious award for musicians in high school - sponsored by the instrumental magazine. Currently, I play with the Tournament of Roses Honor Band at Pasadena City College to march in the Rose Parade. Not to mention, I marched with last year's 2020 group!! Enough about me, but this tutoring service is here to help you understand the fundamentals of playing the saxophone and to have fun with music!
The saxophone is very exciting to teach, and it becomes beneficial to both me and the student. I remember during my time as a Section Leader, there would be signs of growth from my members, and seeing that growth made me understand the importance of teaching. Not only do you get the satisfaction of noticing growth as an educator, but students are blessed with a new skill that they can take advantage of to implement in their playing. This is a very important lesson I learned, and I live by it every time whenever I get to teach. The best part is that when you take my course, you pay for a lower price than the average tutors for high-quality lessons.
