About Julie
Welcome to Voice for All voice lessons! I am a professional singer and educator, and I have been singing as long as I can remember. Singing to me is healing, therapeutic, calming and an expression of your soul. I believe that anyone who wants to sing can. I am here to help you reach your own personal goals in singing, whether it's to get the courage to sing in public, prepare for an audition, sing in the shower comfortably or hone your voice in new areas you have not explored.
I am certified in Level III in the Kodály Methodology of teaching music, and I have taught music in elementary classes, and voice for teenagers. I have had many voice teachers in my life with different techniques. I incorporate the elements I like from each technique to suit your voice and body. I also have a BA in Speech/Language Pathology so I know how the voice works and how to keep it healthy as well. I am also a former professional actress, so I can help with public speaking and skills to use when performing in public.
Before taking on any student, I like to have a phone conversation with them on the phone or on Facetime to make sure that I can meet their needs and gauge how our working relationship will work. Sometimes the chemistry is not right, and it is neither person's fault.
I will travel to the student's home or give lessons on line, but my preference is live with masks on until we are safe.
I promote a positive atmosphere in my teaching style to encourage growth, and I like to set goals and guidelines with each students as each one is different.
