About Maria
Spanish Academy of Asheville is a family-run Spanish immersion private preschool and kindergarten in Asheville, NC. The school introduces young children to Spanish through full immersion led by credentialed native and bilingual educators in an early childhood setting designed for learning and development.
Founded and led by husband-and-wife team Maria Salomé Loomis Ramirez (Director and Curriculum Coach) and Taylor Loomis (Vice Director and Bookkeeper), the academy combines strong educational credentials with local experience. Señora Loomis, originally from Guayaquil, Ecuador, holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Cuenca and a master’s degree in teaching Spanish as a Second Language from the University of Barcelona. She taught K–4 in the Spanish Immersion program at Glen Arden Elementary School from 2013 to 2021 and holds North Carolina professional credentials including the Global Education Badge and the Early Childhood Administration Credential Level III.
Programs include multiple preschool schedules—Early Morning (7:15–8:30), Morning (8:30–1:00), Full Day (8:30–2:45), and Extended (2:45–5:30)—as well as a Kindergarten Immersion Program (7:15–3:15) and an after-school Spanish Club (3:00–5:30). Families seeking consistent exposure to Spanish and a structured early learning experience will find age-appropriate instruction and a committed teaching team.
