About Flor

As a teacher with experience and a native speaker, I am very passionate about teaching Spanish, and I enjoy helping students of all ages and at all levels of Spanish.

I am a Retired Spanish Teacher from Euclid High School. I taught there for 19 years, and I retired in 2017.

This year, it will be my third year, working as a Spanish Tutor at Tri-C Eastern Campus, and also as a Spanish Adjunct at John Carrol University.

I enjoy teaching and tutoring students of all ages, and make them learn about the Spanish language and culture.

I like helping students do better in the class they are taking.

In Caracas, Venezuela, I started teaching English in 1972.

In the United States, I became a Certified Teacher in 1998.

I completed my Certification in Cleveland State University, Cleveland Ohio. As soon I finished, I started teaching Spanish at Euclid High School, in Euclid, Ohio.

I also worked at the Berlitz Language Center, Cleveland Ohio, in 1997.

I start by introducing myself, and I ask the student to tell me something about his/her background, the level of Spanish he/she is learning. Also, the reason why he/she is taking Spanish, and not another laguage.

I also ask if there is any Spanish book, materials, or websites that the student is using.

What grammatical topic or vocabulary is the student learning.

I have worked with students in grades K-4 and 9-12.

Also, I have taught College Students, people 65 and older, and Professionals who want to learn Spanish in the Berlitz Language Center, in Cleveland Ohio.

I will tell the student that he/she should consider hiring a teacher like me because I love what I do, I am a native speaker, and I can make him/her improve the grade in the class, and  motivate the student to understand how important it is to learn a second language, specially Spanish which is  the second language in the United States.

I love Music,  Art, and to travel.

I recently visited several universities in PA and OH.

I also went to several concerts, and visited some museums.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Some important questions could be:

1. What is the background information about the teacher, such as education and experience.

2. What problems  I having with learning Spanish.

3. Why Spanish is important to me, and why I need it.

4. Ask some questions about the material I want to review, or learn.

5. Ask the teacher: what is the schedule?, how long is the tutoring?, how much is the cost for one hour of tutoring? where do I meet with the tutor?
